Kenya - Children's Homes

The Achego Children’s Home: This was "our" home from the very beginning in that in 1978 CRWRF sent money to Foundation Help a Child for this home to be built. Through our contributions, the home has grown so that up to 75 children are now being cared for there. The children all go to school and most are supported through the sponsorship program. As children graduate new ones come into the home so that over the years many children have benefited from the Christian upbringing offered there. Sponsored Children

CRWRF looks forward to celebrating with Achego's staff as they celebrate their 30th Anniversary in 2009.

The Tumaini Childcare Centre: CRWRF has supported children at Tumaini Childcare Centre since 1991. There are approximately 55 children in this home. Regular reports keep us informed about the health and activities of the children. A representative from Help a Child and/or from the African Inland Church visits “our” homes on a regular basis and they make the recommendations for improvements that are needed.

Family First Focus: The Family First Focus (FFF) program has been supported by CRWRF contributions since 2002. FFF accepts orphaned children as well, but difference is that these children stay with relatives from their home communities rather than living at the children's home. They receive assistance with food, uniforms, and books. The children in the FFF program receive regular Bible training together with the children living at either the Achego or Tumaini Children's home. There are approximately 200 children in the Achego and Tumaini FFF programs. Workers from the Achego and Tumaini homes make regular visits to the households in the FFF program to ensure the well being, and good home environment of the FFF children.
