Supporting home based care

Parcels of Hope are small food packages that are distributed by volunteers of the three home based care projects Ithembalethu, Mkiweni and Ophendweni, supported by Zisize Care Centre in KwaZulu, Natal, South Africa.

The local volunteers visit the sick and dying in their homes, and are more and more faced with increasing poverty, resulting from all the AIDS deaths. A food parcel costs about $7 (Canadian) and usually contains some basic food staples - enough for a family for a day or so and a week for an individual. More...
